Thoughtful Thursday ~ Thankful Edition

Today is truly my most favorite day of the year… I have so much to be thankful for and sometimes it takes this day to make me reflect on all I do have. I am so thankful for:

  • My family – I have the most terrific husband who I am madly in love with and who is truly my best friend and we have three wonderful children who are our whole life!   My son Josh – who is folding laundry right now while I blog – LOL – My daughter Delaney, who is playing with my neice so my SIL can have a break, and my baby Conner, who is the sunshine in all of our lives!  These lucky kids have 4 sets of grandparents as both of our parents have remarried… and although it may appear dysfunctional, it sure works for the kids!! Having all of our Moms and Dads still with us and healthy is all that matters! Also, our brothers and sister and their families especially our beautiful nieces and nephews!! Being all together today is worth more than anything in the world!!
  • My friends – We truly have the most amazing circle of friends ever! So many are friends that we have had since we were young and in school (the benefit of a small town) and now it is awesome to see all of our kids being friends. We have also made many new friends by meeting our kid’s friend’s parents. It used to be that Kerry had his friends, and I had mine… now we have all OUR FRIENDS – and that is awesome!!
  • My job – This is the hard one that I most often have to remember to be thankful for… We are very lucky that Kerry and I both have pretty great government jobs, we have amazing benefits and although we always want for more, we certainly have more than some!!
  • Blogging – for all I have learned and all of the people I have ‘met’…  what an amazing experience so far with much more to come!!
  • My health, and that of my family and friends!
  • My life – while always wanting more, reviewing this list sure makes me remember; if this is all I ever have…

… I really do have it all!!

*Also thankful for the “auto-post” schedule feature which made it possible for me to get this posted while shopping enjoying my own family on this most awesome day!!

Sunday Plans…

My to-do list, the only way I stay on task is to document it all up…

OR alternatively, why can’t I just sit and surf the net and watch the Bill’s game….  YEAH RIGHT!!

Today’s Shopping – Josh, the party animal of the house, has another birthday party to go today; I will take him to TF Brown’s and hit JCPenney’s (coat exchange), Tops, CVS and Rite-aid before picking him backup then picking up Lu who also spent the night at a friends last night….

Today’s Cleaning – GOTTA hoe-out the coupon mess I have sprawled across my dining room table…  gonna need that table this week!!  Also still attacking the mountain of laundry we consistantly fall behind on, seriously thinking I should go to the laundromat to get caught up for once but I do not have the time to even go there… UGH….  I really hate the cleaning and maintenance of life – I truly think a cleaning lady would be the best investment I could make… advice??

Today’s Cooking – I have the Thanksgiving menu all set, and Kerry has requested Shepard’s Pie for dinner tonight – with fresh baked rolls…  Have a lasagna frozen to throw in tomorrow night since it is a scout night.  Tuesday will be a big salad with C.O.R.N <Clean, Out, Refridg., Night> and Weds – since I am working, Kerry and kids will have frozen pizza’s – they put all kinds of crazy toppings on and try to gross each other out – hahaha, Glad I miss that!

Today’s WEEK Planning – I am set for my today shopping and plans, but still working on my Black Friday plan of attack – and whether or not I can get out on Thanksgiving day…  Tomorrow is parent-teacher conference at school, and tomorrow night is cub scouts.  Tuesday, K bowls and Weds. night I work…WOW…  I am so excited for this week…  I love Thanksgiving, I love having my whole family around, I love Weds Night work with tons of great friends and an awesome poker game, and I love the Black Friday shopping where I will buy some sort of Christmas decoration to start the decorating process this weekend!!  I have 6 trees to put up this year!!  AND, we are remodeling the living room so really need to hustle to be done for Christmas!  Truly – my favorite week of the year…  CRAZIEST…  but truly AWESOME!!

So – what are your plans today – and for the week??

Thoughtful Thursday ~

So – I am in a little bit of a rut this week…  having a ‘situation’ (daily) and I NEED to do something about it, but no matter what plan I come up with I find too many faults with my plan…  Feels like a no win situation and I do NOT agree, I am NOT happy and there must be a fix!!  So tell me… in this crazy sounding situation… what would you do??

In other news…  and my crazy thoughts…  I have a “REAL” job and I have a minimal part time job (LOVE)…  I am on the ‘Coupon Quest of America’ and have started this Blog…  I am my daughter’s Girl Scout leader and we are all involved in my son’s cub scouts…  Both of my older kid’s are in after school activities and both are in different sports… The “baby” went off to kindergarten…  I wonder when “it” is going to slow down – I mean I can NOT get my laundry done –  YET I truly FEAR “it” slowing down…  Know what I mean??

Can you remember being a kid and waiting for something – FOREVER??  Like my Grandparents lived 2 hours away and they always called when they were leaving to come visit – which was only like twice per year because 2 hours was FAR then…  Anyhow that 2 hours took FOREVER in my mind, just like waiting for Christmas and Summer Vacation…  I am very scared by the fact that just ‘yesterday’ it was December 26th, 2010 and I was sad because it was a whole year before I could experience the wonder of the holidays again… well, here it is and I have no idea where the year went…  WOW – if time is going this fast now, what is to come??  I think this is my biggest FEAR… well this and FEET (other people’s, not mine –mine are nice feet) – blech!!

Onward…

Tops is not enticing me next week and that is okay since I had a pretty good week there this week.  I got a HUGE turkey, and I may go back for one more (if I can find somewhere to put it) since I do NOT see the same great .49# deal next week – ALERT – be sure you get your CHEAP turkey by Sat. night!!  Anyhow, I stocked up on paper plates and got most of the deals listed, and I used some saved FREE coupons to earn more gas credit.  I am up to $1.00 off in gas points already – first week!!

Rite-aid – hmmm – I did find this great deal to add to my Freebies there this week:  Almay Eye Remover Pads are B1G1 50% off.  That = $8.25 ($5.50 and $2.75), get $8 UP reward and submit for $2 SCR…  nice MoneyMaker!!  Also Rite aid is showing some promise with overlapping regular deals and some for Black Friday next week…  Unsure how this will pan out, but I will keep you posted!!

The CVS Deals for next week (the NON Black Friday deals)….  WOW…  I am definitely going to have to hit CVS at the beginning of the week – like late Sat. night, which is all good because I am going to do a few price checks and prepare myself for the opening on Thanksgiving day!  I may be more excited about CVS than any other store for BLACK FRIDAY deals – which actually do start on Thanksgiving!!  Big question is how and when do I fit the meal in??

No – seriously, when am I going to cook?  And where am I putting 21 people again??  And what in the world do I do with my coupons that seem to DOMINATE the entire dining room table when it is not in use, like ever… since my family of five hovers around the 2-foot round table to fight eat.

STAY TUNED as the deals for next week are listed….

The start to Sunday Funday… see my stockpile?!!

It was really nice having the whole family home on Friday and Saturday, we enforced child labor the kids helped gladly and the STORE is up and running…  LOL.  I have been putting my stash of FREEBIE health and beauty into bins, but it is difficult to see what we have and inevitably I need whatever is in the very bottom bin so on a quest that would make my BFF professional organizer friend JFB proud I demanded decided to clear the clutter from one general area of the basement, and move all the bookshelves to that very spot to organize my stockpile.  This is how it all went down…  and kindly avert your eyes from the piles of dirty laundry!!

The bins…

Clearing the clutter…

My NEW happy place!!  Let’s take inventory shall we…

We’ve got hand soaps, air fresheners, Olay products (the Regenerist is hidden upstairs – away from the thieves), and all the feminine products you could ever need…

There are bins of toothbrushes and floss, toothpaste “to beat the band”, mouthwash, deodorant, shaving creams, razors and contact solution…

Then there is lip balm and chap sticks, “kid and baby” products”, body wash, shampoo and conditioners, and lotions and creams…

Whew… what a job, but I am so PROUD of this beautiful stash…GAWD, I need to get a life!!

JFB – are you crying???

I am off to shop…and menu plan… until tonight my friends…  GO BILLS!!!!
